Serving summons on Kurdish journalists and writers is the reflection of the new policy of those in power, legal system and adherent institutions towards complete obstruction of freedom of expression in Iranian Kurdistan. According to the information that has reached to this organization, the following list of active journalists, writers and cultural workers must appear in the court within next days and weeks:
1. Hussein Ahmedi Niyaz, editor-in-chief of Aso (Horizon) periodical. Charged with spreading of falsehoods. Appearance before court April 23, 2005.
2. Mohammad Seddiq Kabudvand, legally responsible and editor-in-chief of Payame Mardom (People’s Message), Charged with spreading separatist and disruptive ideas. Appearance before court April 23, 2005.
3. Ms. Dr. Roya Tolou’I, editor-in-chief of Rasan and member of Association of Defence of Kurdish Women’s rights. Charged with spreading of falsehoods and interviews with foreigner media. Appearance before court April 24, 2005.
4. Abdullah Suhrabi, legally responsible for weekly Rojhelat, charged with spreading disruptive ideas and activities against national security. Appearance before court April 30, 2005.
5. Saman Suleymani, editor-in-chief of weekly Rojhelat, charged with spreading disruptive ideas and activities against national security. Appearance before court April 30, 2005.
6. Jalal Qavami, member of editorial staff and political editor of People’s Message, charged with propaganda for opposition parties and groups. Appearance before court May 24, 2005.
7. Ms. Tonya Kabudvand, member of editorial staff and editor of women’s supplement of People’s Message. Charged with spreading of atheistic ideas concerning women’s issue. Appearance before court May 24, 2005.
8. Kave Hussein Panahi, editor of economic supplement of People’s Message, charged with spreading of falsehoods. Appearance before court May 24, 2005.
9. Hussein Amini, writer and member of Koran school, charged with spreading of falsehoods through Peoples Message. Appearance before court May 24, 2005.
10. Namo Hedayati, writer, charged with spreading of falsehoods through Peoples Message. Appearance before court May 24, 2005.
11. Jamshid Vaziri, writer, charged with spreading of falsehoods through Peoples Message. Appearance before court May 24, 2005.
12. Jahangir Hashemi, writer, charged with spreading of falsehoods through Peoples Message. Appearance before court May 24, 2005.
13. Yousef Azizi, writer, charged with spreading of falsehoods through Peoples Message. Appearance before court May 24, 2005.
14. Majid Mohammadi, writer, charged with spreading of falsehoods through Peoples Message. Appearance before court May 24, 2005.
RMMK invites all human rights activist in Iran and the world that they do not leave Kurdish journalists and writers, in their safeguarding of freedom of expression and the press freedom.
